Crabbing at Struan

Crabbing at Struan

On Sunday I went crabbing at Struan jetty. I caught an enormous one, two little ones and three tiny ones. I have two crabbing nets which have a pale centre at the bottom so you can see when a crab goes in. Shore crabs are coloured lime green to black so they are hard to see under the water.

For bait I use frozen mackerel. I let the crabs go again afterwards. The big one was very angry at being caught and he kept spreading himself out and nipping his claws at us.

I also look for crabs under rocks. That’s where I found the big one. Daddy helped get it into the bucket but was too scared to touch him!
